Gancho Gavazov was born in the town of Karlovo. He studied Performing Arts with the rebec at the Shiroka Laka National School for Folklore Arts, and received his degree in Conducting of Folk Ensembles at the Academy of Music, Dance and the Fina Arts in Plovdiv.

Since 2009 he has been working at the school in Shiroka Laka where he conducts the folk choir and the vocal chamber music ensembles of the school and where, after 2011 he teaches the fiddle/rebec.

Gancho Gavazov holds the first and second prize for the performing arts from the National Folklore Competition "Yanko Petrov"

, held in the town of Galabovo. From different editions of the same Competition, he is the winner of two awards for teaching, and two first prizes for original music.

His musical works have won first and second prize at the New Bulgarian Folk Music in 7/8 Contest in the town of Chepelare.

Q.: How long have you been involved with music?

A.: Since I was 12 years old.

Q.: What kind of music do you like to listen to?

A.: I value quality and music well done. The genre does not matter.

Q.: Which is your favorite song from the repertoire of the Choir?

A.: I have something favorite in every song.

Q.: What is the Cosmic Voices from Bulgaria Choir for you?

A.:-The choir is the place, the milieu where I can express myself. It is also a cause to rally around for music.

Q.: A favorite memory from the stage?

A.:- I remember the first time I felt that the audience sincerely liked our work.

Q.: Your favorite Bulgarian proverb?

A.: The pear doesn’t fall far from the tree!

Q.: What is music to you?

A.: A way of life and self-expression.

Q.: What inspires you?

A.: So many things! Joy, sorrow, a smile, love…

Q.: What are your dreams?

A.: I dream of the new things we will show and beautiful music before us.
